The Haven at Skanda Kicks Off its Horses for the Holidays Program with A Growing Network of Community Caring to Prevent Animal Suffering

Program Expands into 7 Counties

Horses for the Holidays is an innovative donation campaign that puts horses at the center of our holiday giving by inviting the public to donate equine supplies and services to help horses who are at risk of suffering during the upcoming challenging winter months. Donations are accepted by appointment at The Haven at Skanda (315-815-5056) year-round, and at stores, universities, community centers, and stables throughout the region from Thanksgiving through February 1, 2017.

Not just for horse lovers: All who love animals are able to participate in this network of caring by purchasing a range of items from the equine section at all price points at local Tractor Supply and CountryMax stores. All donations will directly improve the quality of life for a horse in need. Small actions of caring make a big difference to vulnerable animals.

What donations are needed: heated water buckets, blankets, grain, hay, tack, grooming kits, bedding, de-wormer, donations of veterinary and farrier services are all extremely helpful for horses that lack adequate access to such resources.

Compassionate network of caring: Horses for the Holidays creates a network of compassion for horse owners who love their horses and are well-intentioned, but for a variety of reasons, including divorce, illness, and injury, need assistance in keeping their horses warm, safe, and healthy this winter.

The Haven at Skanda is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to caring for and protecting the region’s most vulnerable horses, farm animals, and endangered species by providing them a safe home where they can relax, live free from fear, and emerge, and also by providing the community with educational programs in which we learn from the wisdom and generosity of animals, and become loving, compassionate caretakers for those who are most vulnerable.
